Seed funding contributes to lowering carbon footprints
Global warming and climate change are ever-increasing threats to our way of life. It has never been more important for companies to be mindful of emissions and carbon footprints – and Pledge simplifies that task. By helping companies to understand, manage, reduce and offset the climate impact of the products and services they offer, they are helping to sustain life as we know it for future generations.
In order to do this, Pledge builds tools and infrastructure to help companies complete their transition to net zero. In their words, “fixing the planet is just good business” and seed funders are in full agreement.
Seed funders take the cause seriously
On 22 October 2021, Pledge raised S4,500,000 in a single seeding round, backed by four investors. The organisations providing the backing included Breyer Capital, Lowercarbon Capital, Visionaries Club and Zinal Growth.
Breyer Capital is a global venture capital and private equity investor which focuses on high-impact entrepreneurs with a firm belief that artificial intelligence and machine learning will transform global investment opportunities.
Lowercarbon makes a difference by focusing specifically on companies capitalising on the need to lower carbon emissions. Another forward-thinking backer of Pledge is Visionaries Club, which is committed to building the next generation of market leaders. The final investor, Zinal Growth, is the investment arm of Guillaume Pousaz, the founder of checkout.com. It is a global investment firm focusing on the tech industry.
The minds committed to saving the planet

His impressive career includes job titles like “Senior Software Engineer”, “Principal Consultant” and “Head of Wealth and Trading”.
De Picciotto holds a Master’s Degree in Data Analytics from Imperial College in London. He is an angel investor and serial entrepreneur. Lucas has a strong background in data science and a Master of Engineering degree in Financial Engineering and Computer Science from the National School of Computer Science and Applied Mathematics of Grenoble.

The Pledge blog is just getting started, but it offers insight into the importance of engineered removals in overcoming our current climate emergency. There’s also a post discussing the need to transform the climate industry in the same way that the finance industry has been revolutionised.
If life as we know it is to be preserved, governments and businesses around the world have to make changes. By simplifying the transformation process and creating bespoke roadmaps to carbon neutrality, Pledge – empowered by its recent seed funding – is poised to make a difference.
