Seed funding assists in the disruption of furniture retail
Personalising and furnishing your apartment has never been easier thanks to Pabio, which is a rent-to-own furniture provider that offers bespoke interior design. With the help of Pabio, which brings the concept of the subscription economy into your home, furnishing your apartment happens in three simple steps.
First, you fill out a questionnaire. Second, a three-dimensional model of your apartment is generated to show you exactly how it will look when complete. Lastly, the furniture is shipped to you and assembled.
Second seed funding round for company taking sustainability seriously
In October 2021, Pabio raised an undisclosed amount in a seed funding round, having raised $1,000,000 in a previous funding round just two months earlier. The company’s innovative solutions, technological prowess and commitment to sustainability have clearly got the attention of investors. In August, funding came from four sources, namely Y Combinator, Swiss Startup Group, Jeremias Meier and session.vc.
Y Combinator invests in various startups twice a year, working closely with the companies to get them off to the best possible start. Given that Pabio is a Swiss endeavour, it is fitting that part of their funding came from Swiss Startup Group, which is one of Switzerland’s most prominent early-stage investors, always on the hunt for the next great idea.
The third investor, Jeremias Meier, is both co-founder and managing director of Bexio (a company providing simple business software relied on by more than 40,000 companies) and a partner at session.vc. Founded in 2020, session venture – also known as session.vc – backs early-stage companies in the software and consumer industries.
Meet the serial entrepreneur behind Pabio
He’s the brains behind various enterprises, he’s on the Forbes 30 under 30 list and he’s an entrepreneur at heart – meet Carlo Badini. Having founded the well-respected Swiss Design Agency Cleverclip while still studying at the University of Bern, Badini has enjoyed remarkable success in his endeavours.
The diversity of his entrepreneurial talents is showcased by his move from the Cleverclip world of videos, infographics and presentations to the Pabio mindset of transforming the furniture industry. Over and above being the founder of Pabio and Cleverclip, Badini has served on the board of directors at Daktiv AG and Comvation AG.
Instagram and case studies – because a picture is worth 1 000 words
A picture of the type of home that Pabio can create for as little as $175 per month is painted on their Instagram feed, which showcases sophistication and tranquillity. The company’s website provides an array of case studies from happy clients from various parts of Europe. This personal approach to blogging introduces each client and shows the initial three-dimensional design concept that was rendered as well as the final result.
Pabio has already proven to be a trailblazer in the furniture industry, ushering in a subscription economy that will change the way people fill their homes and live their lives. With two funding rounds completed, we don’t expect to see Badini and his team sitting back on their laurels – or their furniture – anytime soon.
